maintain-Two-Wheeler-BatteryUnlike for cars, we tend to ignore the battery maintenance for two-wheelers.  The older bikes might work, when the engine is completely switched off but in recent times, there are bikes that do not have a kick start and if the battery dies, you will end up being stranded.

Here, are few tips to maintain two wheeler batteries in order to avoid worst time battery failure.

 1. Regular Battery checks:
Batteries tend to lose charge just like any cell phone battery. It is important to check the batteries charge on regular basis to avoid any inconvenience.

2. Nodes clean up:
If the dust gets accumulated in the nodes, the battery tends to lose charge quickly. So, clean the nodes of the battery at the regular service checkups.

3. Fill the fluids regularly:
The older lead acid battery needs regular topping up of fluids compared to the DIY type battery.

4. Overload:
Everyone likes accessories to their bikes, but drawing too much of power from the battery for the accessories might lead to dead battery soon.

5. Check whether the alternator is working:
There is an alternator which is present in the bike that produces electricity and charges the battery when the engine is running. If the alternator is off, the battery won’t get charged and would soon die.

6. Wiring faults or shorts:
Any cuts or bruises in the bike wiring system may lead to heavy discharge from the battery.

7. Disconnect the battery:
If you are not in town or your bike is going to be ideal for few days, always disconnect the battery to avoid any discharge. The battery tends to lose charge on its own even when it is kept ideal.

8. Battery degradation:
If your bike doesn’t start at the first attempt of pressing the starter button then do check for battery degradation.  The life of the battery is declining if your bike doesn’t start in a single go.

If you follow the above tips, your motorcycle battery life might increase by 40% than it would have had otherwise.
