Monsoon has started in the several parts of the country recording triple digit rainfall at some places. But how prepared are we for the monsoon? Daily commuters are the most affected and needs to keep their vehicles at the best condition. Four wheelers are better off compared to the two wheelers. The two wheeler motorcycle doesn’t have the grip and the power that the four wheelers have.
How to get your vehicle prepared for monsoon? These guidelines apply for both car and bikes in general.
Tyres:
Tyres need to be in good condition no matter whether it is a car or a bike. Check the tyres for enough tread depth. The tread pattern is the only thing that can help you maintain safety on the roads. Air pressure is another important element to check to avoid skidding.
Brakes:
While sending your car or bike for service, make sure your brakes are at good condition. The most common type of accidents that occur in the rainy season is the skidding. To avoid skidding make sure that your brakes are in the good condition.
Electrical’s:
Check your Headlights, Tails lights and Indicators. Wet roads absorb light, affecting visibility. Keep your lights clean and shining.
Battery:
Dirt can discharge power therefore the automotive batteries should be cleaned at regular intervals. The automotive battery terminals should be coated with petroleum jelly to avoid rain water getting inside and dirt. If your vehicle is left in isolation for a longer period of time then there is a chance of battery failure. There would be power drain/discharge on batteries if left in isolation. Vehicles should be running to maintain good health of the automotive battery.
